Priests and parishioners catch up after a Sunday service at Trinity Church.

Worship & Congregation

Worship opens us to the wondrous reality of our loving God, gathering and focusing us on what matters. It’s at the heart of everything we do at Trinity Church. Through church services, educational programs for all ages, and the shared life of our congregation, we are inspired to seek a life of deep meaning.

Easter Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Phillip A. Jackson: “Lessons of the Resurrection”

In his Easter sermon, Father Phil Jackson summarizes the narrative arc of Jesus’s life in the Gospels and offers lessons we can take from his victory over death. “The resurrection tells us that the gap between you and God is closed,” preaches Father Phil. “God is with you even beyond death. And nothing — nothing you do, nothing you say, nothing at all — can separate you from the love of God in Christ.”

Great Vigil of Easter

The Great Vigil of Easter is one of the oldest known rites of the Christian church, dating back to the second century. It brings worshippers, literally and symbolically, from darkness into light through the kindling of new fire, reading of scriptures, and the sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist. After weeks of preparation, more joyful elements return to service, including a riotous display of flowers and the word Alleluia, which has not been spoken during the past forty days of Lent.

This symbol-rich liturgy features candlelit readings, psalms and canticles, Holy Baptism, the First Eucharist of Easter, and festive choral anthems sung by Trinity Choir.

Liturgy of Good Friday

Liturgy of Good Friday

On Good Friday, we remember Jesus’s Passion: his betrayal, trial, crucifixion, and burial. The congregation is invited to meditate on his willingness to die for us, and what it means to us, by touching and kneeling before the cross. The service ends in silence.

The Liturgy of Good Friday, including the Passion Gospel according to John chanted by Trinity Choir, the Solemn Collects, devotional hymns, Veneration of the Cross, Communion from the Reserved Sacrament, and anthems. Veneration of the Cross continues until 3pm with the 33 tolls of the Trinity bells.

Children’s worship materials will be available during this service, and nursery care will be offered on the mezzanine. Children must be registered for the school year to take part in nursery care.
