Becoming a Member

Man and woman chat in Trinity's churchyard during a spring picnic.

All are welcome at Trinity Church. Everyone, regardless of membership status, is invited to participate fully in our worship services, programs, and community life. Members are those in our parish who have made a special commitment to pray, worship, and give at Trinity Church.

Pray

Members are faithful in prayer. They dedicate time to pray for the parish and its ministry.

Work

Members regularly attend church services and participate in the common life of the parish through volunteer work and study.

Give

Members support the mission of the parish through financial giving. This means making a confidential pledge of any amount each calendar year. Learn how to give at Trinity.

Membership FAQs

Who can join Trinity Church?

Anyone. If this feels like your church home, then it is. You belong here.

How do I learn more about Trinity Church, The Episcopal Church, or Christianity?

Twice a year we offer Foundations, a Sunday afternoon class for anyone interested in joining the church or learning more about the Christian faith. This class is free and covers a variety of topics including church history, the Bible and Book of Common Prayer, spirituality, and more. We encourage you to join!

How do I become a member of Trinity Church?

You must have been baptized and indicate your intention to work, pray, and give at Trinity Church by filling out a Membership Information Form and returning it to Membership@trinitywallstreet.org. If you weren’t baptized previously, or you don’t remember, we can baptize you, at any age. We encourage all prospective members to attend our Foundations series and spend time getting to know a member of our clergy team

Can children become members?

Yes. Children become members when they are baptized at Trinity Church, which can happen at any age. From Children’s Time on Sundays to Youth Group, afterschool and summer programs, and more, there’s a lot for young people to be a part of at Trinity Church.

How do I transfer my membership from another church?

You can submit your baptism records on the Membership Information Form. If you are uncertain about any of the details of your baptism (not all churches keep records), please provide the best information you have. We’ll figure it out together.

What if I’m not baptized or not sure if I’m baptized?

Baptism is an outward expression of God’s love for us, through which we become members of God’s family, the global Christian church. We baptize people of all ages — infants to adults — and are happy to guide you through the baptism process. If you’re not sure if you’ve been baptized, don’t worry; we’ll figure it out together.

 What is confirmation?

Confirmation is the process of making a mature commitment to God and one another that culminates in the public affirmation of one’s faith. At Trinity Church, adults prepare for confirmation through our Foundations series, offered twice a year, and youth (ages 12–18) prepare by participating in Youth Group, including a special six-week confirmation course.

 What is reception?

If you were not baptized in The Episcopal Church, we’ll recognize your baptism or confirmation elsewhere through the process of reception, which, like confirmation, is a public affirmation of one’s faith. Our Foundations series is a first step for those considering reception.
