PIPES: Stephen Tharp
One of the preeminent soloists in the U.S. today highlights the vast orchestral range of Trinity’s magnificent new organ. Stephen Tharp performs his own transcriptions of Franz Liszt’s Totentanz and Joseph Jongen’s final movement of the Symphonie Concertante, as well as an adaptation of Richard Wagner’s Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde. The centerpiece of the evening is his thrilling adaptation of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, which will demonstrate the new organ’s full power and gamut of colors.
