St. Matthew Passion

J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion is revered as one of the quintessential masterpieces of western classical music. Originally premiered on Good Friday in 1727, The Passion According to St. Matthew, BWV 244, is a dramatic integration of scripture, new poetry, and great hymns of the Lutheran tradition. Bach's sublime setting creates a portrayal of the Passion that is both profoundly human and divine.

Liturgy of Ash Wednesday

Solemn Liturgy of Ash Wednesday. A choral Eucharist with congregational hymns and music by the Choir of Trinity Wall Street. Ash Wednesday begins the liturgical season of Lent, when Episcopalians prepare for Easter. It is typically a season of prayer, repentance, and reflection. During the Ash Wednesday service ashes will be offered. Ashes are also offered throughout the day in Trinity Church and St. Paul's Chapel.
