A Day in the Heights
Join us for a day uptown exploring the historic Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum. Get to know the serene grounds, located near the border of Hamilton Heights and Washington Heights, where many notable New Yorkers are interred: John Jacob Astor, Eliza Jumel, Ralph Ellison, and John James Audubon, to name a few. The cemetery is also the flagship site of the Heritage Rose District, abloom with centuries-old rose varieties.
Activities include a tour of notable graves with local historian Eric K. Washington (1:15pm), a tour of the heritage roses by rosarian Stephen Scanniello (3:15pm), a rose workshop where you can take home a potted cutting (4:45pm), light bites and live jazz music from Jazz House NYC, and more.
