Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Phillip A. Jackson: “God Shows Up Through Simple Acts of Love”

When it came to the long-awaited Messiah, “John [the Baptist] expected judgment,” one coming in majesty to overturn the politics and regimes of his day, preaches the Rev. Phil Jackson. “And what Jesus brought instead was a certain gentleness.” John anticipated fire and power, yet Jesus shows up in his community, not in retaliation, but bringing healing and freedom through simple acts of love. “That is where the Messiah comes,” says Father Phil. “That is where Jesus lives.”
