Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Michael Bird: "The Freedom of Responsibility"

In today's Gospel, Jesus tells his followers to "take up [your] cross and follow me." In his sermon, Father Michael notes, "There is something about following Jesus that asks us to sacrifice ourselves for God, for the greater good, for the love of neighbor." He encourages us to think of Jesus's command not as an unbearable burden, but as a path towards freedom — the freedom to be co-creators with God of a more just world.
