Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Michael A. Bird: "Everybody is God’s Somebody"

It is utterly human to find there is a gap between what you believe you can do and the practice of actually doing it, preaches the Rev. Michael A. Bird. Today’s scriptures highlight examples of the disciples failing time and again because “their practice and their beliefs are not in sync.” Be heartened by this, however. It only proves that God loves us all indiscriminately and that “practice is how we take the belief that God makes good, that God is love, and draw on the energies of that love.” The readings are Jonah 3:1–5, 10; 1 Corinthians 7:29–31; and Mark 1:14–20.
