Sunday Sermon, The Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles: “A Long Obedience in the Same Direction”

The societal challenges we wrestle with are nothing new, preaches the Rev. Kristin Kaulbach Miles; it has always been hard for us to be in solidarity with one another. But Scripture continually reminds us that our calling is to love God — and love our neighbors as ourselves. God doesn’t change, and so our response to God doesn’t change; there is no quick or efficient way to follow Jesus. Our walk is, as Friedrich Nietzsche put it, “a long obedience in the same direction.”
