"Jesus was an Indigenous Child." Archbishop Don Tamihere Explains "First Light" Theology

The Most Rev. Don Tamihere, who is Primate of Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia, likes to remind his listeners that Jesus was subversive, and that Christianity does not exclusively belong to the Western world.  The archbishop believes that, in the cultural context in the South Pacific, where people have been colonized by imperial power, the Gospel offers a path to liberation.
