Easter Vigil Sermon, The Rev. Michael Bird "The Bridge that is Easter"
April 16, 2022
The Rev. Michael Bird reminds us that the women who arrived at the tomb in the early morning of the first Easter were prepared to confront “the broken promises of Good Friday.” Instead, they learned the truth of the promise of the Resurrection. Father Michael calls the Resurrection a bridge built by Jesus that not only changed the lives of the women at the tomb forever, but also does the same for us, as well as for the children marked by baptism as part of the Great Vigil of Easter Saturday evening. Watch the homily. The readings are Genesis 1:1—2:4a, Psalm 136:1–9, 23–26, Exodus 14:10–31; 15:20–21, Isaiah 55:1–11, Ezekiel 37:1–14, Psalm 143, Romans 6:3–11, and Luke 24:1–12.
