11:15am Sermon, The Rev. Winnie Varghese: "Acting on Our Dreams"
January 3, 2021
Preaching on the Second Sunday after Christmas Day, the Rev. Winnie Varghese describes a recent visit to the new Penn Station in midtown Manhattan. Its acre of glass ceiling and public art celebrates vitality and community, “casting a vision of who the city is for.” She invites us to imagine who we will become as a nation, city, and people after the trauma of 2020 has subsided. Will we emerge more fair, compassionate, and wise than we were before? With a hope-filled year ahead of us, “how are we casting radical new visions of what could be and what must be because of what we have been through together?” The readings are Jeremiah 31:7-14; Ephesians 1:3-6, 15-19a; and Matthew 2:13-15, 19-23.
