11:15am Sermon, The Rev. Elizabeth Blunt, "Karstic Landscapes"
August 16, 2020
"Most of us are karstic landscapes: What you see on the surface reveals very little of what's going on underneath. There's good news in the idea that somehow the spaces hollowed out by the world: our hunger and our thirst, our longing for community, those are the places where the Spirit makes a home." In today's sermon, the Rev. Beth Blunt examines the faith of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:10-28. The disciples look at her exterior and see someone unremarkable, desperate, foreign, and female. Yet, she is the enumeration of the fruits of a pure heart. The readings are Genesis 45:1-15; Psalm 133; Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32; and Matthew 15:10-28. Watch the sermon.
