Leadership Education Grounded in Faith and Values

As the role of religion continues to evolve in the United States and internationally, faith leaders require new forms of education and training to effectively address urgent needs and share God’s love with their communities. Trinity supports church and lay leaders in building the skills necessary for present-day ministry, such as nonprofit administration, social entrepreneurship, conflict transformation, adaptive leadership, and more.

Trinity’s Leadership Development initiative is comprised of grantmaking and original programming. Our grantmaking is primarily focused on strengthening Episcopal and Anglican leaders to better serve community and congregation. Our direct programming catalyzes new approaches to non-degree ministry education for clergy and lay leaders of all faiths.

Where We Work

Our grantmaking primarily takes place in the United States, predominantly supporting work based within the Episcopal Church or multi-denominational projects that include Episcopalian participants. Internationally, Trinity’s Leadership Development grantmaking supports Anglican institutions. The Trinity Leadership Fellows program and Faith Leadership Campus are open to leaders from all Christian denominations and non-Christian faiths around the world.”

2024 Impact

Our Strategies

Enhance Theological Education: A portion of our grantmaking focuses on enhancing seminary degree programs with practical leadership offerings for new faith leaders. These grants generally focus on supporting established theological institutions.

Cultivate Continuous Learning: Our grantmaking also works to expand continuing education for faith leaders. We fund non-degree programs that provide established faith leaders with practical leadership and management skills to better address their communities’ needs.

Expand Leadership Access: We are committed to reaching a wide variety of leaders. We support organizations who create digital resources and communities that blend faith with practical leadership skills. Many of these resources are available via Trinity’s own Faith Leadership Campus.

Faith Leadership Campus

Faith Leadership Campus is the home of Trinity's digital education platform offered at no-cost by Trinity Church. Leaders who serve their congregations and communities may sign up and take any course, free of charge. We encourage all users to follow the order in which the courses are listed and, if possible, go through the program as a group. If you have a group of leaders you wish to take these courses with, please submit a request and we will create a learning space on this platform for your group to learn and grow together.

Trinity Leadership Fellows

The Trinity Leadership Fellows program educates, inspires, and connects emerging faith, professional, and community leaders who want to strengthen their capacity and skills to address urgent needs and share God’s love with their congregations and communities. This is a two-year, cohort-based program that is fully funded and non-residential. Participants represent a diverse set of backgrounds, nationalities, and faith traditions, both Christian and non-Christian. Over the course of the fellowship, participants sharpen their leadership skills, learn from experts in the field, and build lifelong supportive peer and mentoring relationships.

Social Innovation Through Ministry: Princeton Theological Seminary

Princeton Theological Seminary serves as an established seminary that equips students for leadership worldwide in congregations and the larger church, in classrooms and the academy, and in the public arena. With grant funding from Trinity, Princeton launched the Teaching Spiritual Entrepreneurship in Seminaries Initiative. In this work, Princeton leads a collaborative of nine partner seminaries to better address gaps in seminary education and find ways to creatively implement social innovation and entrepreneurship curricula.
