Community

As Christians we face the injustices of the world head-on and respond with love in action. At Trinity Church, we steward our resources to meet the needs right in front of us, here in our Lower Manhattan neighborhood. Loving our neighbors is how we follow Jesus.

How We Work

Trinity Church uniquely serves as both a grant-maker and an organization providing support to those in need.

How We Give

At a time of great and increasing need in our neighborhood, and across the world, our faith calls us to use our gifts to help all people, advancing equity and justice in the here and now — and hopefully for generations to come. Since 2020, Trinity has granted $180 million to more than 400 organizations.

Showing Hospitality to Asylum Seekers in New York

Houses of worship and nonprofit organizations have long been at the forefront of welcoming immigrants, and the latest influx of Latin American asylum seekers in New York City is no exception. We at Trinity are proud to play a part in that response, providing both $300,000 in strategic grants and distributing supplies worth $500,000 to nonprofit organizations on the ground.

Trinity Speaker Series with Hugh Ryan

Today, approximately 40 percent of the people in women’s prisons identify as queer. Hear from bestselling author and historian Hugh Ryan as he shares insights from his new book, The Women's House of Detention: A Queer History of a Forgotten Prison.

This singular history of a prison, and the queer women and trans people held there, is a window into the policing of queerness and radical politics in the twentieth century. From the lesbian communities forged through the Women’s House of Detention to the turbulent prison riots that preceded Stonewall, this is this story of one building and much more: the people it caged, the neighborhood it changed, and the resistance it inspired.

Join Hugh Ryan for a book talk and conversation with the Very Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, Trinity’s Theologian-in-residence, and take part in audience Q&A and a book signing. Books may be purchased here
