Featuring The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, today’s Comfort at One brings a survey of spirituals curated and directed by Stanley Thurston as a part of our By the Waters of Babylon Festival that honored the range of Black music in America and its inextinguishable power to transcend and transform.

The score for Jason Treuting's extremes leaves a lot up to the performers—it calls for a high sound, a low sound, a sound that keeps a steady pulse, and some kind of pitched instrument. For our Comfort at One concert today, The Choir of Trinity Wall Street and Trinity Baroque Orchestra, led by Julian Wachner, present Das neugeborne Kindelein, BWV 122 and Herr Jesu Christ, wahr’ Mensch und Gott, BWV 127.
