In-Person Retreats with Retreat Guru
We are looking forward to the time when we can once again come together in non-virtual ways. With the hope that we will emerge from the pandemic later this year in a way that will allow us to gather in West Cornwall, we are taking registrations for in-person retreats later in 2021. The health and well-being of everyone – our guests and staff – remain our highest priority. Guests will be required to follow health guidelines that Trinity Retreat Center will put in place before re-opening. If plans change given the state of public health at the time of any of these retreats, we will issue full refunds to registrants.
Thanksgiving Week Retreat (November 24–28, 2021)
The centerpiece of this week, of course, will be the Thanksgiving meal. But every day will be focused on activities and time to reflect on our blessings. All meals will be served family-style. Prayer, worship, song, and contemplative community reflection will punctuate our late-autumn days together in the New England woods. Come for just a few days or the whole week.
Led by Trinity Retreat Center staff. This retreat is suitable for individuals and families, including children of all ages. The dates of your stay are flexible, but we are requesting a two-night minimum for all guests.
Christmas Week Retreat (December 22–26, 2021)
Unplug from this busy season and enjoy a festive, meaningful Christmas in West Cornwall. Participate in community activities as we move from the quiet reflection and waiting of Advent into festive Christmastime activities: carol singing, cookie decorating, walks in the quiet woods, conversations around the Christmas tree, common-table meals, and Christmas Eve worship by candlelight. Oh, and if there’s snow, the sledding hill is waiting. Come for just a few days or the whole week.
Led by Trinity Retreat Center staff. This retreat is suitable for individuals and families, including children of all ages. The dates of your stay are flexible, but we are requesting a two-night minimum for all guests.
God and the Cosmos
Spend the weekend of the Perseids Meteor Shower watching the ocean of stars above West Cornwall and exploring time, space, and the universe through the dual lenses of science and the Abrahamic faiths of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Astronomers will lead a star-watching party. The weekend also features music, art, lectures, and contemplative prayer exploring how we can ponder our cosmic dance with the Divine, not only in the skies above but also in our neighborhoods.
Led by Joseph Rose, an Episcopal seminarian at Yale Divinity School and Executive Director of Visitor Experience at Trinity Retreat Center. Featuring Dr. Samuel Loncar and Summerlee Staten. This retreat is suitable for individuals and families, including children of all ages.
Currently limited to 25 people. More spaces may open up as public health guidelines allow.
“Food, Health, and Spirituality” Harvest Retreat
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you?” the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians. Join Trinity Retreat Center’s culinary staff for a weekend focused on taking care of ourselves through the food we eat. Sample farm-to-table foods, harvest fresh produce from Trinity Retreat Center’s farm, enjoy home-cooked meals around the common tables, and rejoice in the love we can have for ourselves and creation through the preparation of food, mindful eating, and prayer. This retreat provides time for learning about meal planning, macronutrients, plant-based alternatives to meat, balanced nutrition (including baked treats!), and making healthy food choices an intentional lifestyle rather than a diet.
Led by Heidi Rose, Executive Director of Operations at Trinity Retreat Center, and Julia Phillips, Head Chef at Trinity Retreat Center. This retreat is suitable for adults and for young people who are capable of participating in adult conversations and activities.
Currently limited to 25 people. More spaces may open up as public health guidelines allow.
Illuminated Manuscript-Writing Advent Weekend Retreat
Come to Trinity Retreat Center for a weekend of spacious reflection during Advent as we immerse ourselves in this practice by using the “white vine” motif of Renaissance Europe and humanist italic script technique. The workshop will use the same historic materials used in the middle ages: 23k gold leaf and ground mineral pigments. Through this monastic art form, we will reflect on Advent and engage in this wonderful pre-Christmas activity of the creative arts among the wonders of creation.
There is an additonal $70 materials fee.
Led by Susan Kelly vonMedicus, artist, iconographer, and art faculty member at Villanova University. This retreat is suitable for adults and for young people who are capable of participating in adult conversations and activities.
Note: Currently limited to 25 people. More spaces may open up as public health guidelines allow.
