Doubt Is the Place God Meets Us

The disciple Thomas, who refuses to believe the news of Jesus’s resurrection without seeing it for himself, is known as a doubter. But in focusing on Thomas's uncertainty, we miss a deeper truth. “Doubt is not at odds with faith; it’s part of it!” writes the Rev. Yein Kim. Jesus isn’t angry when we ask questions. On the contrary, he meets us where we are and gives us exactly what we need to believe.

The Impossible Story of Easter

“It’s so easy to look at the state of our lives or the world around us and assume the worst,” writes the Rev. Matthew Welsch. But Christians are called to orient our lives around a different reality: Death does not win. Even when it seems impossible, Jesus brings new life.

God’s Judgment Is Not What You Think

Jesus comes to establish a new era of unending justice, in which anything that stands in the way of God’s love will fall away. “For those who hoard wealth, lord their power over the weak, and refuse to follow Jesus’s example,” writes Summerlee Staten, it’s a scary thought. But at its core, it’s a message of lasting liberation — for all of us.

How We Carry God’s Love Into the World

During Advent, we remember the unique role Mary played as “the God-bearer whose relationship with God changed the course of human history,” writes the Rev. Yein Kim. Repentance Is an Act of Joy

“Repentance isn’t about wallowing in shame and guilt,” writes the Rev. Matthew Welsch. “The Christian call to repentance is an invitation to turn around. To stop, take stock of our lives, and then realign ourselves to God’s vision for the world. Repentance is an act of joy.”

Jesus’s Message for Turbulent Times

“Christians need not despair,” writes Summerlee Staten, “God’s word for us is eternal — the pinprick of light before and beyond the coming storm. When we keep our eyes on that light . . . we see beyond the darkness, guarding a future not fully known to us, and yet already held by God.”
