Philip Hamilton’s Final Resting Place | Ask Trinity Archives
Alexander Hamilton, who’s buried in the south churchyard of Trinity Church Wall Street, died in his late forties, killed in 1804 in a duel with then Vice President Aaron Burr. Less known, at least until the Hamilton musical opened five years ago, is the death of Hamilton’s eldest child, Philip, at age 19, also in a duel, in 1801, with the location of Philip’s grave a bit of a mystery. Watch the latest episode of Ask Trinity Archives with archivists Joe Lapinski and Marissa Maggs.
