For the Tuesdays throughout Lent, we are presenting our Lenten “Lamentatio” series from 2014. In this rebroadcast of Lamentatio 4, we explore darkness and light through the music of Philip Glass (Symphony No. 3), Shostakovich (Symphony No. 14), and Peter Togni (Tenebrae Litanies).

Bach at One: Comfort is a 2017 collaboration with New York Baroque Inc (NYBI) that featured works around the theme of comfort, including the stunning Ich habe genug (translation “I have enough”), BWV 82.

Compline by Candlelight provides peace and stillness as one week ends and another begins. There’s nothing to do but listen. This recording from the archives comes from October 14, 2018 and features Robert Parsons - O Bone Jesu.

NOVUS NY’s brilliant principal oboist Stuart Breczinski performs a movement from his composition Lever and has also created a special improvisation for the Comfort at One series to remind us that that “in the midst of darkness, light persists.”

On Thursdays throughout Lent, Comfort at One will feature our Director of Music Julian Wachner performing a variety of improvisations. Today’s Comfort at One features the 4th Lamentatio improvisation.
