Comfort at One presents the concert “Lagrime Mie” which explores the female perspective in composition, particularly the raw evocation of emotion heard in the music of the famous Baroque artist, Barbara Strozzi (1619-1677), who broke through gender barriers to become the most successful composer of secular vocal music in Venice in her time.

As we look forward to the Mother’s Day weekend, Comfort at One presents a cantata that focuses on Mary, the mother of Jesus: Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern BWV 1, paired with Herr Gott, dich loben wir, BWV 16.

Instead of our usual at-home Friday Comfort at One edition, today we bring you a special at-church offering: Down by the Riverside arranged by Moses Hogan, a moving spiritual directed by associate organist Janet Yieh with members of The Choir of Trinity Wall Street.

Comfort at One continues presenting our Thursday Pipes at One series from the inauguration of the Noack organ at St Paul’s Chapel. Today’s recital is from February 21, 2018 and is performed by the organ duet Duo Majoya.
