The First Day of Lent: More Than Just Ashes

Trinity Church Wall Street scheduled seven services on Ash Wednesday, the first day of the penitential season of Lent: at 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11am at the Chapel of All Saints, and at 12:05 and 5:30pm at St. Paul’s Chapel. The Rev. Bruce Jenneker helps us understand this ancient and annual observance whose meaning goes well beyond its most obvious feature.
