Ash Wednesday Sermon, The Rt. Rev. Andrew ML Dietsche, "The High Cost of Dust"

“You are dust and to dust you shall return.” These are words we must hear every year on this day and yet prove – especially after this year of tremendous loss – no easier to bear. Preaching via Zoom, the Rt. Rev. Andrew M. L. Dietsche reminds us, “these words are also glorious and invite us in all times to turn back to our lives and our living in wonderment and awe.” During this, our second Lent during COVID, we’re called to repent but also to recommit to a “larger and fuller expression of our being.” Time is short and life uncertain. “If you blink, you'll miss it.” The readings are Isaiah 58:1–12; Psalm 103:8–14; 2 Corinthians 5:20b—6:10 and Matthew 6:1–6, 16–21.
