Day 9: April 25

Trinity Pilgrims take in Rome, including the Pantheon, the Forum, Circus Maximus, the Arch of Titus, the Baths of Caracalla, the Arch of Constantine, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.

Standing by the imposing Arch of Titus, Michael Battle reminds Trinity pilgrims that Paul was up against the Empire, in the forms of both power and a citizenry socialized by violence. But Paul’s spirituality introduced a new understanding of citizenry—one in which power is found in the actions of love in solidarity with the poor—by being “in Christ.”
