Father Phil Congratulates Our Next Presiding Bishop
I am pleased to congratulate the Rt. Rev. Sean W. Rowe, bishop of Northwest Pennsylvania and bishop provisional of Western New York, on his election and confirmation as the 28th presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church.
Bishop Rowe’s lifetime of service is a vivid demonstration of his deep love for Christ and his church. Bishop Rowe returned to his home diocese in western Pennsylvania after graduating seminary in 2000 and has rooted his ministry in relationships.
I am grateful to know our Church will be under Bishop Rowe’s faithful leadership, held in God’s steadfast and boundless love.
Bishop Rowe, whose nine-year term begins November 1, is known for his work to adapt and reorient the church to serve a rapidly changing world. The world will continue to change, he said in his address to the General Convention, and “God is calling us ever more deeply into the unknown.”
As we move into this future with courage and hope, I am grateful to know our Church will be under Bishop Rowe’s faithful leadership, held in God’s steadfast and boundless love.
The parish of Trinity Church holds our next presiding bishop and his family in prayer and asks for God’s wisdom, peace, and joy during this time of transition. We also offer our gratitude and continued blessings to the Rt. Rev. Michael Curry as he nears the conclusion of his term as presiding bishop.
