Council Nominees
The Congregational Nominating & Leadership Development Committee is pleased to place on the ballot the persons listed below for election to five positions on the Congregational Council. Candidates for the 2023-2026 Congregational Council are:
Heather Daly, Iya Antoinette Emers, Jim Hopkins, Regina Jacobs, and Sian Wetherill
Furthermore, we are pleased to present the names of nominees to serve as delegates to the 2022 Diocesan Convention. Nominees for delegates to Diocesan Convention: Felicia Stenhouse Eve, Scott Evenbeck, and Eleanor Withers.
Voting will take place in person after all three services on March 5, 2023 and the results will be announced at 12:45pm that afternoon at the Annual Meeting of the Congregation in the Parish Hall.
Heather Daly
Heather Daly lives in Battery Park City and has attended Trinity Church Wall Street since 2004. For the last two years, she has served as the Vice President of the Congregational Council. She particularly enjoys the 9am service with her family, Peter Curry, Finn Curry, and mom Alice Daly. At Trinity, she is active in Parent Space, Women in Community, and Sacred Ground. She began life as a member of historic St. George’s Episcopal Church in Hempstead, NY. She graduated from Union College, in Schenectady, NY, and Cornell Law School in Ithaca, NY. After law school, she worked for two international law firms, Latham & Watkins LLP and Davis, Polk & Wardwell LLP. She currently works for the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, where she focuses on worker health and safety matters. She has a deep concern for people with disabilities. Heather appreciates the opportunity to help advance Trinity’s mission and values.
Iya Antoinette Emers
Iya Antoinette M. Emers has been a member of Trinity Church Wall Street for 22 years. She co-founded New Beginnings, was a proud Brown Bagger, participated in Mission trips to Panama, Lay Eucharistic trainings, women’s retreats, quiet retreats, and core values Retreats, Sunday Suppers, Giving Tree, Discovery workshops, the Trinity Ambassador Program, and so much more.
Professionally, Iya Antoinette is a Community Advocate for New York City Aging in the Grandparent Resource Center under the Mayor’s Action Plan in NYC Housing Authority Developments covering East Harlem, Brooklyn and The Bronx serving Kinship Caregivers and Older Adults with supportive Services. At the same time, she currently serves on the board of Harlem Advocates for Seniors as a co-founder, Community Food Advocates as chair of board development, TLS co-leader at Faith In New York, Hunter College Public Scholar Mentor, and Hostos Advisory Health and Aging Council as a board member.
Iya Antoinette earned a bachelor’s degree from Rosa Parks College of New Rochelle and a Certification in Aging from Hunter College. Also, she is a 2019 NorthStar Fellow Foundation graduate.
She enjoys spending family and friend time, especially with her granddaughter, Sofia. Some of her favorite free time moments are writing poetry, listening to music, and dancing.
Iya Antoinette will provide her vast experiences in multiple areas to keep doing good works at Trinity Church Wall Street for the greater good of the community.
Jim Hopkins
Jim and Amy came to Trinity in 2007 when their youngest daughter joined the youth choir. At Trinity, Jim has served as Verger, subdeacon, greeter, lector, discernment committee member, and more. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Jim has served as a symphony orchestra violist, orchestra CFO, executive director for two orchestras, director for a consulting firm, university development director, and now budget director for Manhattan Youth and president of his condo board. Jim and Amy live in Battery Park City, where they raised their three children. They enjoy performing free chamber music concerts and traveling by motorcycle.
Regina Jacobs
Regina Jacobs’ time at Trinity Church spans more than two decades in diverse roles. She is currently the chairperson of two of Trinity’s Congregational Council standing committees: Hospitality and Community. She is also the creator of the Breaking Bread ministry, in addition to being a lay liturgical minister, member of the Discovery planning team, and retreat leader. Pre-pandemic, she completed 12 volunteer mission trips, journeyed on five pilgrimages, contributed to the Trinity News magazine, and served in other faith-affirming ministry roles. She considers herself to be an inquisitive seeker and is still discovering the joy of growing into who God created her to be.
Sian Wetherill
Sian has been a member of Trinity since 2005. She worked on exhibition planning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 25 years, and now is a lay chaplain, working in healthcare and prison re-entry settings. At Trinity, she has participated in various ministries, including as a Godly Play mentor; a Trinity Cares caller and visitor, and the Trinity Cares Racial Justice and Education affinity groups; a Sacred Ground participant; a lay eucharistic visitor; a healing prayer lay minister (pre-COVID); a Women in Community participant; several retreats and pilgrimages; Brown Bag lunch packing and serving; and as a Kianga House volunteer for library renovation and reading nights. She lives in lower Manhattan with her husband and two sons.
Delegates to the Diocesan Convention
Felicia Stenhouse Eve
Felicia Stenhouse Eve and her family have been attending services at Trinity Church for more than five years and currently attend the 9am service. She currently chairs the Stewardship subcommittee of the Witness and Outreach Committee.
Scott Evenbeck
Scott Evenbeck has been a member of Trinity since 2011. He has represented Trinity at Diocesan Convention and has served on the Vestry. He served many years as a deputy to General Convention, chairing the Committee on Education. He served as president of the Church Club and is president of US Friends of Gladstone’s Library. He is vice chair of the HBCU Committee of the Executive Council and a board member for the Association of Episcopal Colleges. He was founding president of Guttman Community College and now serves as university professor at Baruch College. He earned his baccalaureate degree at Indiana University and his graduate degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Eleanor Withers
Eleanor has been a proud member of Trinity since 2019. She was introduced to the church when one of Trinity’s mission teams visited Panamá while she was serving there with the Young Adult Service Corps. Eleanor is currently a co-chair for the Young Adults Group, a member of Trinity Cares, and a thurifer and reader during the 11:15am service.
Eleanor works for Episcopal Relief & Development where she manages grants for dioceses experiencing disasters and leads workshops focused on Asset Based Community Development. Eleanor graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Spanish and global studies. She currently lives in Bushwick, Brooklyn, with her four-legged son, Pookiebear.
