Water Ways, Spirit Ways
No matter who we are or where we live, our lives depend on water.
In this retreat we’ll draw from scripture, science, and the waters of the Housatonic River for spiritual growth. In the Bible, the sea is both the site of chaos and the womb of creation; we’ll spend time exploring biblical passages about water in light of process theology, one of the most challenging and interesting turns in contemporary theological thought. We’ll learn about the waterways of the Eastern Seaboard of the United States and the hidden connections that link cities to the wilderness and tie our wellbeing to that of all life in this region.
Finally, we’ll becoming intimate with the Housatonic River, in partnership with a local canoe and rafting outfitter. We’ll learn the secrets of “reading” water and spend time paddling one of the loveliest rivers on the East Coast.
