Fits and Starts: Nourishing Practices for Starting and Restarting in a Pandemic World with Emily Scott
If there’s one thing we’ve learned to do since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it’s pivot. We have been constantly on our toes, trying to adapt to swiftly changing circumstances. While adapting to changing context is at the heart of healthy leadership, crisis adaptation creates exhaustion. We are tired, yet our ministries still need our leadership. In these sessions, you will be introduced to spiritual practices and practical postures for leadership in trying times. First, we’ll focus on restoring our souls. Then, ways to stay nimble and durable as we lead pandemic-shocked communities into a new future. Whether you are starting a new community, revitalizing an existing congregation, or leading a healthy church into a new future, you’ll leave refreshed and energized, with tools to meet this ever-changing world.
Emily M. D. Scott is a church planter and redeveloper. She is the founding pastor of St. Lydia’s Dinner Church, which sparked a global interest in the Eucharistic Meals. She currently serves as pastor of Dreams and Visions Baltimore, a new congregation rooted in the LGBTQ+ community, and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Baltimore, a revitalized congregation investing in its neighborhood. Scott is also the author of For All Who Hunger: Searching for Communion in a Shattered World.
This free retreat will take place over five half-hour sessions via the Trinity Retreat Center Facebook page throughout the weekend at these times; all times are Eastern. Registration is not required.
- Friday 7–7:30pm
- Saturday 10–10:30am, 2–2:30pm, and 8–8:30pm
- Sunday 4–4:30pm
