Holy Eucharist: The Day of Pentecost
A simple celebration of the Holy Eucharist, with a brief sermon and communion.
On this day we celebrate Pentecost, the "birthday" of the broader Christian Church.
It was on this day, as described in the reading from Acts appointed for the Day of Pentecost, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit—the third person of the Trinity—to his disciples, as he had foretold in his teaching. Pentecost is also one of the four holy days especially suitable for Holy Baptism, as well as for confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation: sacramental rites which can only be performed by a bishop. Today the Rt. Rev. Andrew ML Dietsche, the 16th Bishop of New York, will preach and preside as new and renewing Christians join Trinity Church.
