Climate Change: How to Talk About It and Motivate People to Act
If you're concerned about climate change but don’t know how to raise the topic, please join in this workshop, presented by Trinity’s Environmental Justice Ministry Group. Over two sessions, Tory Ruttenberg, a former management consultant specializing in conflict and a co-founder of Climate Change Group (www.climatechangegroup.org), will teach you the skills necessary to raise the issue of climate change comfortably and successfully.
Saturday, October 8 This session will introduce you to the research on climate change communication theories, show you how these theories can apply when you talk to friends, neighbors, etc., and give you the opportunity to practice these skills.
Saturday, October 29: This session will build on the October 8th session, with a focus on how to how to motivate others to get involved.
You will leave this program:
- Having practiced raising and discussing climate change
- Understanding how to choose the right message based on the beliefs, background, and knowledge of the person to whom you are speaking
- With the confidence to talk to people with differing perspectives
It is strongly recommended that you commit to attending both sessions. Register by emailing David Ward at: djward71@yahoo.com.
